Sierra and Bianca Casidy are part Native American sisters who must've been born under a wandering star, from the American deserts to Paris, France; from painfully hip spots in Brooklyn to tours across Europe and back, they have taken their often home made instruments to whimsical takes on everything from classically trained opera singing to stumbling hip hop. Their extroverted stagecraft mixed with their knack for introverted soundscapes has made them natural peers to artists like Antony and The Johnsons or Devendra Banhart while their adventurous artistic outlook made them natural partners for theatrical productions (like a staging of Hamlet in Sweden), film scores (like French movie Frankie, and songs for Bruce LaBruce's 'Otto or Up with Dead People') as well as fashion shows. All together this makes for an explosive mix that, often enough, has left indie scenesters scratching their heads. While working on their fourth album, they are taking their show on the road for this summer - and during an early stop in Leipzig, Germany, Sierra found time to talk to Red Bull Music Academy Radio about her love for classical music, their newest drumset and a childhood with very little music at all.
