Daniel Wang makes and plays gleaming, Disco-influenced Dance Music that also draws inspiration from early House and Techno. Born in California, he spent seven years of his childhood in Taiwan before heading to New York to work in musical instrument and record shops. Sick of paying stupid rents, seeing a Starbucks on every corner and having to look at George Bush’s face, he quit the States for Berlin in 2003 and hasn’t looked back. Daniel takes his music seriously - like, he used to be too obsessed with making a good bassline but is now correctly concerned with structure and composition, that level serious. Wholesale sampling and loops are serious no-no’s, ruling most Hip Hop and Techno out of bounds. He records on his own label, Balihu, Morgan Geist’s Environ, and Ann Arbor’s awesome Ghostly International and is keen to make the Kyoto region of Japan his next move.
