Glaswegian quartet Franz Ferdinand have been dubbed art-school rockers ever since they burst into the public consciousness with their second single, the thudding, angular anthem Take Me Out. Three albums and many awards later, the band still has a considerable intellectual edge despite being incredibly popular on both sides of the Atlantic.
