Yam Who? is the studio and DJ alias for two individuals with a shared, eclectic and passionate interest in soulful music of all genres. A chance meeting in the mid-'90s at a now abandoned London club started a musical conversation which has ultimately grown from them being DJs, record collectors and 'part time' musicians (and a few other things in-between) to a fully formed production outfit. Since then they have had the privilege to work with some of the best labels and artists on the underground and commercial black music scene across a variety of musical styles encompassing jazz, soul, hip hop, house, r'n'b and broken beat. Their remixes and edits for the likes of Dwele, Zero 7, John Legend, Nick Holder, Dining Room, Alison Crockett, Incognito and many more are really larger than life. Here we have one half of Yam Who? taking turns with Electric Minds' mastermind Dolan Bergin and switching betweeen boogie from Italy and England, house from Berlin and Arthur Russell or Talking Heads re-interpretations. Very much like the versatile work of the Electric Minds' label that features releases by Chaz Jankel, Ilja Rudman, Arthur Russell, Gatto Fritto and of course Yam Who? We sing the funk electric!
