Yorkshireman Findlay Brown found fame when his debut album ‘Seperated by the Sea’ was widely hailed as the work of a major new singer-song-writing talent. His imminent Second album ‘Love for You’ is produced by former Suede guitarist turned uber-producer Bernard Butler, and it heralds a dramatic change in musical direction. To celebrate the upcoming album release – and by way of explaining his shift in style – Findlay has put together this special mix of the songs that inspired him during it’s making. Having already become increasingly interested in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s era of Elvis, Dion and Roy Orbison, Brown used his recovery time after an accident to delve deeper into that era of classic pop song writing. Immersing himself in the perfect pop symphonies of Motown, Joe Meek and Phil Spector, Findlay found the inspiration for his second LP and it’s amazing to hear how beautiful these songs sound when you listen to them without the baggage of their usual ‘pop classic’ context.
