Why no one asked Steve to score the love scenes in Moonraker is anyone’s guess, but after Steve had teamed up with Morgan and Ed and they dropped their single Eve, they were acknowledged by critics and music lovers alike as fine purveyors of outer-galactic Soul. Following that up with their LP Curvatia further cemented them as leaders in the field of zero-gravity seduction soundtracks, and no self-respecting martian Casanova was seen without a copy. Steve recently dropped a solo album ‘Space Shift’ on west coast label Sound In Color, which found him collaborating with some of Detroit’s finest – with J Dilla on the ode to community that is ‘Dollar’ and Leon Ware on ‘Smoke’ - as well as West London producer Afronaught. It might read like a sound clash, but Steve pulls it all together with his incorporeal vocals and weightless, time-slowing atmospheres. Seems mashing styles is all in a days work for, and Steve's rep for coming with fresh soulful music just can’t get dented. We suspect his radio mixes will unveil a plethora of cosmic influences, from the sound systems and pirate radios of London, to the psych soul of sunny LA. Warp factor Infinity, Mr Sulu.
