Welcome to the exciting and colourful cosmos of PanameriKa, Red Bull Music Academy Radio's window to Latin America's vital music scene and its protagonists. PanameriKa is... the star on Ch Guevara's beret, a tickle on your stomach from the stolen Montezuma's feather crown, Maradona's header aided by the hand of God - himself - in '86, a golden apple that you won't find on Carmen Miranda's cornucopia-hat, and what's hidden beneath a mariachi's sombrero. Whatever implications you might have made on things worn on the head around the Americas, put a pair of headphones on, and let us blow your mind with a true selection from the new sound booming all along PanameriKa. Presented by Reactor 105.7's glamorously-voiced seorita Elvis (yes, it can also be a girl's name around here), and a team of music-luchadores, PanameriKa is selected, written and produced by Uriel Waizel in the Ibero 90.9 radio studios in Mexico City, with the technical post-production savvy of 'Fo', and the assistance of Jimena Albert. PanameriKa will provide you with an enlightening array of references on the bountiful production of music coming from this side of the planet. Atencin, though: Spanish is spoken here, but then again, you may skip those classes this way, and save some dinero, amigo! Special guests for this edition: the infamous Calle 13! The genius of hip hop and rap meet their latino counterpart as reggaeton fusion rhythms are spit out of the speakers while listening to Calle 13. On this occasion, PanameriKa is proud to present a band that roars with passion about their latin heritage and their will to clear the essence of the people that inhabit South America. Coming from Puerto Rico, they set out on a musical journey that makes clear for everyone that being a distant part of the United States, does not eclipse their geographical identity. If you have a Spanish speaking person at hand, we highly recommend they translate for you as the rhymes flow through the microphone and into you ear, because you're in for a wild ride as Calle 13 proudly present their newest material: Los de Atras Vienen Conmigo. By the way, if you consider explicit language at all offensive... we suggest you stay clear from this particular band.
