Thank god, they still exist. These bands that seem to come out of nowhere and hit the nail right on its head without either sounding contemporary, nostalgic or like anyone else for that matter. Gang Gang dance are a prime example of such a splendid formation. Pending between esoteric and spiritual influences, afrobeat, grime and noise, those New York kids dish-up a self-baked cake. Highbrow indie rock kids have been overheard calling them “neo-primitivist” or even “neo-tribal”, albeit without the special tattoos. Cool with them, cool with us and cool with Warp which have licensed them to grace ears outside if the US. Gang, Gang, on the door, baby…
