Thank God, they still exist. These bands that seem to come out of nowhere and hit the nail right on the head without either sounding contemporary, nostalgic or like anyone else for that matter. Gang Gang Dance are a prime example of such a splendid formation. Pending between esoteric and spiritual influences, afrobeat, grime and noise, those New York kids dish-up a self-baked cake. Highbrow indie rock kids have been overheard calling them “neo-primitivist” or even “neo-tribal”, albeit without the special tattoos. Cool with them, cool with us and cool with Warp who have licensed their '08 full length “Saint Dymphna” to grace ears outside of the US and 4D who take care of properly hyping up their latest pieces of art brut.
