The original plastik technocrat, Richie Hawtin has walked his own path through music, and done it his way. Already being transplanted round the world as a child, Richie found himself growing up in Windsor, Ontario near Detroit, and becoming inspired by the mechanic sounds that poured out of Motor City. Hawtin has always been pushing the envelope, from starting Plus 8 Records with John Acquaviva at the turn of the nineties, and forming the M_nus empire, to developing Final Scratch. His works under the F.U.S.E. guise, the Plastikman annals, countless remixes and his ground-breaking works with the Concept series or the 'Decks, EFX & 909' compilation are all firmly planted in techno's history. A fierce advocate of developing technology, as long as it doesn't detract from the physical experience of community, Richie lives in the moment, on the cusp of the future.
