RBMA Radio takes over Lisbon's airwaves

Dem A Call Us Pirates…

The revolution will not be televised – it will be broadcasted. On Antena 3, that is, as well as on Red Bull Music Academy Radio and a special pirate frequency destined to flood the sete colinas of Lisbon with nuff bass and musical vibes for ten hours on June 12.

From 4 pm to 2 am, a bunch of creative minds from the extended Portuguese Academy family will take over the Santa Catarina Palace in Lisbon for a celebration of the musical heritage and culture in the Portuguese-speaking world. All sets will be recorded and spread throughout the city via a pirate frequency announced on the same day at the Palace doors, nationwide through the Academy’s acclaimed partner station Antena 3, and even worldwide throughrbmaradio.com.

DJs, manjerico poets, emcees, fado singers and producers such as Ginga ninja DJ Ride, Macacos do Chinês, and Barcelona alumnus Mushug, will be at the forefront of this concerted bumrush and biggest street party within the city’s Santo António festivities.

In case you won’t be able to show up at Santa Catarina to pump up the volume with your boombox, handheld soundsystem, mobile phone or whatever is capable of tuning into FM radio these days, tune in online and start gearing up now with the 16 episodes of Portugal’s very own Ginga Beat show.
