The Cannery building has held its reputation as one of Nashville's premier music venues across the sat four decades. Originally starting life as a flour mill back in 1883, the structure has had music at its heart since the 1970's, building on the success of its country music theatre. Nowadays it's the cozy Mercy Lounge on the second floor that Nashville music heads flock to for the great-bands-before-they-got-big atmosphere, while the Cannery Ballroom stepped up with double capacity, making sure they could bring national household names to Tenesee too. From George Cilnton to Stephen Malkmus, Bonnie Prince Billy to Vashti Bunyan, the Mercy Lounge and Cannery Ballroom is a platform for live bands at the top of their game. Their innovative programming, like the weekly local showcase 8 off 8th, or their Road to Bonnaroo concert series, has won the support of tastemakers from New York to Chicago, and the task of changing lives through live music is something these two venues take very seriously. Lord have Mercy!
