When it comes to venues, Cargo has it in spades. The kind of venue that's intimate, but still has space for 700+ merrymakers, and there's been many a party that threatened to raise the roof under those railway arches in London's east end. But don't be fooled by its bare brick work and traditional feel - the state of the art facilities pack a mean punch, and means that Cargo can host a wide variety of live acts from the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, to The Heritage Orchestra - as well as almost any international DJ you'd care to mention. There's room to stretch the legs on their enviable terrace, or catch an award-winning burger from their kitchen. Red Bull Music Academy Radio teamed up with Karen P the Broad Casting club night, and has featured musical mavericks such as LIttle Dragon, Jimi Tenor, Tony Allen, Buraka Som Sistema, and Mulatu Astatke and The Heliocentrics - of which the last collaboration has spawned a studio album and a touring machine. As London clubs go, they don't come much better - the perfect balance of form and function to let the music do the talking.
