L.E.V. Festival

the LABoral Art and Inudstrial Creation Centre in Gijon, Spain, is less an anemic exhibition space and more like a massive playground for art, science, technology and advanced visual industries, shaping a rather unique idea of futurism. It is in this context that it hosts the L.E.V., meaning Laboratorio de Electrónica Visual or, in English, Visual Electronic Laboratory, a festival that presents cutting edge electronic music. Since LABoral has a strong focus on the visual in most of its endeavours, L.E.V., too, works with artists that incorporate a strong visual element in their work. During the festival itself the Art Centre is the main meting point with daylight activities including exhibitions and, traditionally, a lecture hosted by RBMA. Lcture guests so far have included Monolake & Deadbeat, Daedelus, the founders of the Raster Noton label-platform and Mark Pritchard. Red Bull Music Academy Radio is on site to record some of the aural highlights that grow in this multi media microcosm.
