Radio Egida

Radio Egida might sound like a state of mind according to some long-lost Freudian theory, but the name also summarizes its broadcasting mission pretty well: thoughtful, intuitive programming that provokes ideas as well as gut feelings is at the heart of one of Poland's premier academic radio stations. The Student Radio Studio program has been rolling live on air for over forty years in Katowice, and has become an integral part of the Silesian University community. As well as making the most of facilities like their recording studio, auditorium, and museum, the radio actively sparks debate about all aspects of modern culture, plumping up their already deep archival resource. Radio Egida looks at cultural phenomena with an objective view, and is one of the few faculties able to draw deeper meanings from mass culture while at the same time helping popularize the works and themes of more specialist areas. Silesia ain't silent!
