Splash!

For three days in July, the Splash! Festival takes over the historical Ferropolis steel museum near Dessau, and one of Europe's biggest hip hop and reggae extravaganzas gets into full swing. Since 1998, the festival has had a reputation for throwing the party right, and much of its early years were set on the hillside of the Oberrabenstein reservoir. Now after finding their new home in Ferropolis (which also hosts the renowned Melt! festival), Splash! have the perfect setting for their bass-rumbling, earth-shaking tents and stages. Splash! is one of the few festivals to go straight for the club jugular, with plenty of smaller stages to get your intimate wind on. Having broadened their musical horizons to include tropical bass, dubstep, electro, and all other kinds of dubby low-end electronics, the main stage is still the domain of the MC elite from the US, UK, France and, of course, Germany. Splashy and bashy!
