Trans Musicales

Trans Musicales Festival in Rennes has been setting the standard for music festivals since 1979. It might be small, but its reputation for capturing the zeitgeist stretches around the globe. Each winter, music lovers descend on the capital of Brittany, but not because of mainstream headlining acts -instead precisely because of their absence. Trans Musicales' visionary organizer Jean-Louis Brossard has gradually earnt the trust of festival goers over three decades, but bands and performers recognize the power of Trans Musicales' winning atmosphere too. With its distinct home-made feel, the festival has put Rennes on the international festival circuit and turned it into an annual destination for 45,000 revellers. As well as taking a snapshot of the musical underground, they also investigate other disciplines like dance, art, and film. Recently the festival also initiated the Memoires of Trans, re-creating living memories from the last thirty years.
