What was once a small clan of electronic and jazz music lovers broadcasting above a tiki-themed bar to the inner Auckland city area has grown into a nationwide radio presence with programming that’s far outside the mainstream hula hoop. George FM is now broadcasted on FM frequencies in 16 different cities and provinces around New Zealand: bringing bubbling house basslines to Rotorua, angular art deco grooves to Hawke’s Bay and icy electro powder to Queenstown. Music TV doco creator and Academy team member Nick D hosts the station’s breakfast show from 7-10 am NZ-time on weekdays.
