UCT Radio might be based on the university campus, but it serves a much wider function as community radio for the students and young folks of Cape Town, being the only university radio station licensed to broadcast to the wider metropolitan area. While UCT has an across-the-board approach to its music programming, reflecting the diverse hustle and bustle of campus life, it also follows a strict policy of promoting South African music, and its roots into the community run deep. Working with promoters to put on local shows, band battles, and dance-off's, UCT certainly isn't an invisible broadcaster, and takes part in every aspect of the student lifestyle. Academy alumnus Thibo Tazz is a regular disc jockey, taking his deep broken afro house to the people, but the UCT airwaves are full of indie, hip hop, house, dubstep, and everything inbetween. Too easy!
