Worldwide Festival

The Worldwide Festival welcomes along all-comers, and since its maiden voyage back in 2006, has quickly earnt a reputation for its visionary programming and selection of iconic musical legends and genre-defining youngsters. Listeners to Gilles Peterson's far-reaching radio show will be familiar with the breadth of music on offer, and the eclecticism of Gilles' festival programming is more concerned with content than tokenism - the emotional core of these acts is what makes the WF stand apart, and festival goers get the full spectrum of what today's deep jazz soul sounds like. The WF might select from a broad palette, with a network that also includes Radio Grenouille and RBMA France, but it's Gilles' inate sense of community that pulls the whole festival together, filling it with the intimacy of a family gathering, rather than just another of those big summer extravaganzas. With two editions taking place in Singapore, Shanghai, and sizzling Sète just off the south coast of France, the WF is one of the few festivals on the calendar that replenishes body, mind and soul. Ready, Sète, go!
