Primavera Sound

Primavera Sound

The Primavera Sound Festival has grown like Akira in its eight years of existence - starting out in the Parc del Fòrum on the north-easterly coast, recently mutant events have started cropping up alongside the main festival in Barcelona's underground stations and Joan Miró Park. Primavera's setting is literally a breath of fresh air, as the mediterranean breeze whips through the Fòrum like so many angular riffs. But it's the smart programming of quality music whatever the genre, that makes Primavera such a hit with the Catalans and international festival goers alike. Innovation and cojones are basically the qualities that Primavera keep their ears out for, whether it's from underground electronic music or rock 'n' roll icons. Teaming up with the UK's All Tomorrow's Parties has added another string to Primavera's bow, bringing seminal acts from indie rock's formative decades. Around 60.000 attendees will roam the Barna coastline, and not all of them are adults - there's a kindergarten festival called Minimúsica that includes bands playing adapted songs and specially-written material. Prima!
