Oxegen

For the most part of the year, the jockeys that reign over the location of Ireland's Oxegen festival aren't the kind that spin discs, as the Punchestown Racecourse has been the home of Irish National Hunt Racing since 1827. But don't fret, you don’t have to ride in on a fiery stallion to enjoy one of Europe’s premier festivals. In fact, it’s not allowed to bring animals to the festival (we checked), even though a horse would come in handy to navigate between the fun fair, several campsites and eight stages. 2009 will see the inauguration of the Red Bull Music Academy Arena at Oxegen which features some of the hottest horses from the RBMA stable and performances by some of the Academy's favorite artists. Fittingly for a festival on the Emerald Isle, Oxegen just got a Green N Clean Award for being a carbon-neutral event, quite a feat for an event this size and further reason for disbelieve that all of this only got started in 2004.
