Movement Detroit

Each Memorial Day weekend since 2000, Detroit has been injected with the much needed youthful energy of an electronic music festival. Paying respect to the roots of the worldwide phenomenon named techno, this annual event formerly known as Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF) and now being referred to as Movement, did its best not only to bridge the Atlantic gap between Europe and the United States, but brought artists from around the world together with the city’s vast heritage and talent. Past curators of the event have included Carl Craig, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson as well as some controversy. Nowadays, Movement is produced by Paxahau Promotions, and it seems like the festival’s future looks bright with an ever expanding line-up.
