Pioneering synth masterminds gather on the Costa Etrusca every July for a serious electronic throw-down. Somehow the rolling Tuscan countryside manages to cater for over 60.000 revellers, and it's testament to the organisers that the picturesque town of Livorno remains unscathed during this four-day musicathon. In fact, the festival is so community-minded that Michael Lang, the organiser of the original Woodstock Festival and godfather of festival ethics, was impressed enough to join the Advisory Board. The family spirit of Elettrowave overflows into literature, cinema, theatre, comics and sports, as well as including musical luminaries like Kraftwerk, Marcel Dettman, and Aphex Twin. They might have just celebrated their tenth anniversary, but we suspect they've already got plans for well into the next decade.
