Three warehouses built on the Singapore River in 1919 lay the foundation for Zouk, Singapore's premier clubbing venue. Incorporating the traditional warehouse design, the world-renowned super club spreads out over four rooms (Zouk main room, Velvet Underground, Phuture and the Wine Bar) and was the first club in Singapore to introduce house music, while getting away from the then popular Top 40 diet. With a little bit of help from the top notch sound system, its residents were soon to be convinced. Since then, Zouk hosted hundreds and hundreds of over- and underground DJs and musicians from around the globe. Of course, it has not only been house music. Zouk is famous for an eclectic selection of dance music from all angles. Therefore a night at Zouk can feature artists like futurist Richie Hawtin, the wizard Jeff Mills or techno innovator Derrick May as well as Berlin’s house boy Dixon, London jazz dancer Gilles Peterson or even Primal Scream, Peaches and Bjork. Be prepared to meet some of them 'On The Floor!' at Red Bull Music Academy Radio.
